A Place for all seasons
Enjoy the beauty and peace of rural New Zealand . . . any season, any time.
Pumula is located in Canterbury, 55km from Christchurch on the Inland Scenic Route 72 which journeys from Rangiora, north of Christchurch, through Oxford, and continues along the foot of the alps to Mount Hutt, Canterbury's premier ski field. Continue south over the Rangitata River to Geraldine, where you can link to State Highway 1 or head inland to the Southern Alps, which has some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet.
We are just 5km from the quaint rural town of Oxford, nestled at the base of the Oxford foothills, with the Puketeraki Range as a backdrop. With beautiful views of the Southern Alps it is the doorway to the Alpine region of New Zealand.
Go on a bush walk, adventure jet boating, cycling, a mountain hike or trout and salmon fishing in summer, autumn or spring.
Escape to the spectacular ski fields in winter, or take a helicopter to view the magnificent landscapes and scenery, glaciers and glacier lakes.
So much to do . . . so little time
Take a relaxing journey through heartland New Zealand. Visit thriving country towns, see early colonial architecture, historic churches and fascinating country museums. In addition to traditional farming, the area produces boutique cheeses, truffles, saffron, olives and mead. You’ll discover delightful picnic and camping places, and cross Canterbury’s largest river at spectacular Waimakariri Gorge before entering an outstanding outdoor playground.
The Lake Coleridge Basin

Within a short driving distance from Pumula you can fish for trout and salmon in the Rakaia River or the high country lakes, go windsurfing at Lake Coleridge, site of New Zealand’s earliest hydro power station, or skiing at Lake Lyndon.
A place for all seasons . . . a place for all people!
